WHAT IS ENDOSCOPIC SURGERY?

Published by admin on

You might have seen or heard about endoscopic spine surgery and wondering what it is. Historically, everything is evolved with more advanced technology and integration of resreached and data, medicine and surgery are the same. A century ago, we have not heard of knee scope, shoulder scope, or hip scope. Many surgeons were labeled “crazy” with the idea of performing arthroscopy to treat joint pathologies. Many gave up due to peer pressure. Some are persevere and continue their beliefs and succeed. Once the technology has evolved, the impossible is now possible. Nowadays, no surgeons do open joint surgery if the pathologies can be addressed with the arthroscope.

The arthroscope or endoscope is a small stick with high definition, high magnification at the tip so that we can see inside your body, joint, spine, etc. We are literally inside your body. This images will be projected on the big screen monitor. We can get to the area that we were not able to reach in the past because of the small size of the scope.

The technology in the spine industry has been exponentially evolved from open spine surgery to endoscopic spine surgery. I once did not believe in this technology until I decide to commit myself to study about it. It took me 2 years to thoroughly study the science of Endoscope. It took me another two years to mastering it. I went to at least 10+ workshops to master the technique. I scrubbed in with the leaders in this field and literally had them teach me how to be proficient. It takes dedication to be master at whatever you want to be.

My experience is that the Endoscopic technique can treat many spinal disorders including but not limited to bulge disc, herniated disc, annular tear, sciatica, pinched nerve, stenosis, back pain, facet arthritis, and degenerative disc.
Talk to your surgeon or seek a second opinion to find out if you are a candidate for Endoscopic or MIS surgery.
